Dear TRIUMF Users and Experimenters,<br>
<br>
I apologize for the additional email. The last section of the
previous email sent was not formatted properly and was confusing.
Please refer to this email for information regarding the visitor
procedures and training requirements.<br>
<br>
Below please find information regarding TRIUMF's visitor procedures
and training requirements for visitors, users, and experimenters.
Please read the message below so that you are advised on the steps
to be taken before coming to TRIUMF.<br>
<br>
<u><b>Visitor Procedures</b></u><br>
TRIUMF has recently implemented a "Visitor App" online. This online
form is replacing the PDF visitor forms (ie. the <a
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://www.triumf.ca/sites/default/files/VISITORS%20Registration%20Form2-saveable_0.pdf">Visitor/Users
Registration Form</a>, the <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://www.triumf.ca/sites/default/files/ACCESS%2BPRIVILEDGES%2BFORM_dec13.pdf">Access
Privileges Form</a>, the <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://www.triumf.ca/sites/default/files/Visitor%20Radiation%20Badge%20Application_fillable.pdf">Radiation
Badge Request Form</a>, etc). Your TRIUMF contact will need to
fill out the online form for you before your visit (<a
moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="https://mis.triumf.ca/admin/visit/"><a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://mis.triumf.ca/admin/visit/">https://mis.triumf.ca/admin/visit/</a></a>).
When your visit has been approved by an admin assistant, you will be
notified and you will need to enter some personal information before
your visit (ie. the name of your institution, emergency contact
information, etc). You will also be notified of the training
programs that you are required to take before your visit and/or when
you arrive at TRIUMF. Please note that if you are a spokesperson for
an experiment and have a lot of people coming with you for an
experiment, your TRIUMF contact can click a checkbox to "Allow the
visitor [you] to invite their own subordinates". If this is the
case, you will be able to invite your fellow experimenters using the
Visitor App, <a moz-do-not-send="true"
class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="https://mis.triumf.ca/admin/visit/">https://mis.triumf.ca/admin/visit/</a>.
You will need to login with the same credentials you use for the
Sciences Apps (ie. the Spokespersons' Portal or Dashboard).<br>
<br>
Please note that if you or your fellow experimenters need a formal
letter of invitation, they can be requested through the Physical
Sciences Administrative Assistant.<br>
<br>
If you have questions or feedback regarding the visitor application,
please feel free to contact Jens Dilling.<br>
<br>
<u><b>Training Information</b></u><br>
As you may know, TRIUMF updated the TRIUMF Safety Orientation in
November 2014 and experimenters that have not taken the updated
Safety Orientation must do so before being able to be on the TRIUMF
site without direct supervision (ie. before you will be able to have
an access card). The safety training can be found at <a
moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="http://www.triumf.ca/training"><a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.triumf.ca/training">http://www.triumf.ca/training</a></a>.
<i>Depending on the experiment, additional safety training may need
to be taken. Your TRIUMF contact should indicate on the Visitors
App the additional training that needs to be taken (ie.
calibration sources training).<br>
<br>
</i>In addition to the above training, TRIUMF has introduced a Basic
Radiation Protection Training, that also must be taken before being
able to be on the TRIUMF site without direct supervision. This can
also be found at <a moz-do-not-send="true"
class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.triumf.ca/training">http://www.triumf.ca/training</a>.<br>
<br>
In addition to both of the above training programs, TRIUMF has
introduced Building Access Training. This training will be completed
when experimenters arrive at TRIUMF, before they start work in an
area which requires the training. Your TRIUMF contact should
organize this training for you.<br>
<br>
In addition to the above, for muSR experiments, experimenters need
to take the Personnel Safety Alarms Training before arrival at
TRIUMF, this can also be found online at <a moz-do-not-send="true"
class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.triumf.ca/training">http://www.triumf.ca/training</a>.
Once both the TRIUMF Safety Orientation and the Personnel Safety
Alarms Training are completed, there is also on-the-job training to
be completed for Working in Exclusion Areas, once you arrive at
TRIUMF.<br>
<br>
If you have any questions regarding the training requirements,
please do not hesitate to contact Jens Dilling.<br>
<br>
All the best,<br>
