Dear grad students,

We are excited to inform you of the IsoSiM Program's first annual IsoSiM
Summer School <>, 22
June - 3 July in the TRIUMF Auditorium. The focus this year will be
*effective written and oral communication in science*. The school will
be held in four parts:

- The workshop portion will be led by Dr. Jean-luc Doumont
<>, author of the Nature Series "English
Communication for scientists" and a lecturer with Stanford and Harvard.
He will provide lectures on writing and oral presentations.

- The workshop will be interleaved with group work. As part of a small
group, you will prepare a document to be constructively critiqued by Dr.
Doumont. (Meetings and organization will be decided between you and
your group members.)

- Dr. Doumont will give a public lecture, open to all TRIUMF staff, on
"Structuring your research paper" Tuesday 30 June, 09-11h.

- The fourth portion and final day will focus on careers in industry,
with IsoSiM industrial partners. Each representatives will give a brief
overview of the company, participate on a panel on "Career paths in
industry for young researchers," and discuss your individual concerns
over a catered lunch.
