Hey guys.

We received an email with a very nice offer to register for "Research Computing Summer School" in June at UBC. After confer with WestGrid we are happy to confirm that all TRIUMF staff and students are welcome to register for this summer school "as UBC researchers ($35, as UBC is a member of WestGrid)". If you are interested, it is worth to have a look below. 😉

Research Computing Summer School

June 11-14, 2018

Vancouver, BC

This June, WestGrid (<>) is bringing its Research Computing Summer School to UBC for a second year. The four-day event is open to all UBC faculty, students, and staff.

WestGrid is a regional partner of Compute Canada (<>), a national platform of datacentres and expert technical staff funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to support researchers across Canada.

Our summer school courses will use Compute Canada systems for the hands-on exercises, so you will get first-hand experience using high performance computing (HPC) resources and tools.

Course will explore introductory and expert topics in:

·         High performance computing

·         Cloud computing

·         databases

·         parallel programming in Chapel

·         GPU programming with CUDA

·         next-gen sequencing using a supercomputer

·         scientific visualization with ParaView

·         Microbiome data manipulation and visualization in R

·         MATLAB

·         Python

Cost:  $35

You only need to register and pay once to attend as many or as few courses as you like!

Complimentary light refreshments will be provided each day. Participants are responsible for providing their own lunches.

Who Should Participate:

Anyone interested in building knowledge and skills in computational research. All research disciplines and skill levels are welcome to register.
