Dear TRIUMF users,

Please take note of the following TRIUMF travel rules as related to the COVID-19 situation.

These rules takes effect immediately and will stay in effect until further notice. The impact on the TRIUMF beam schedule and other program activities is currently being assessed and we will follow up shortly with further communication.

Last night, B.C.’s Minister of Health Hon. Adrian Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry (PHSA) announced that, effective March 12, the province’s health officials expect all individuals in B.C. who choose to travel out-of-country to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days upon their return.

This directive will impact TRIUMF community members who are currently travelling or who plan to travel in the coming days.
TRIUMF is now taking the following measures in response to this directive:

  1. All visitors who arrive in Canada from international travel on or after March 12 must place themselves in self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor their symptoms according the provincial government’s directives. Staff must also contact their TRIUMF supervisor.

  2. All visitors who returned to TRIUMF in the 14 days priors to March 12 must follow previous government directives, including 14 days of self-quarantine for those returning from countries with Level 3 travel health notices, and 14 days of monitoring for those returning from countries with Levels 1 and 2. Please see the following link for the list of affected countries: https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/health-safety/travel-health-notices<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftravel.gc.ca%2Ftravelling%2Fhealth-safety%2Ftravel-health-notices&data=02%7C01%7C%7C23cc7d8a1b124209d0b008d7c77fb950%7Cc20535109cb34679a2d38f442e03b587%7C1%7C0%7C637197223699667850&sdata=ulZeaR%2B7%2FM4OL9xBHcOE9vhiZ5gs%2BLYnmQJGs6yuyAM%3D&reserved=0>

  3. Effective March 13, TRIUMF will deny entry to staff and visitors who do not comply with these measures.

To reiterate for all non-travelling TRIUMF community members: if you feel unwell, please stay home and do not come in to work, and please contact your TRIUMF contact and Ian Doyle, the Director of Human Resources (idoyle at triumf.ca<mailto:idoyle at triumf.ca>).

If you have any questions or concerns at this time, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at marcello at triumf.ca<mailto:marcello at triumf.ca>.
