Transit Strike - Notification:
Dear TRIUMF Community,

As you may have heard, the union representing Coast Mountain Bus Company transit workers and SeaBus operators issued a 72-hour strike notice on Oct. 28. If this work action proceeds, it may result in diminished services starting 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.

At this stage, it is not clear whether strike action will go ahead or what form it will take; however, if it a work stoppage does occur, it is likely that there will be a significant disruption to some transit services. Please note that should a strike take
place, it should not affect services operated by BCRTC (SkyTrain), West Vancouver Transit, West Coast Express, HandyDART and First Transit (shuttles on Bowen Island and in Langley).

If strike action does go ahead, TRIUMF will operate as normal, employees will be expected to report and attend to their regular duties.

Should you not be able to make it into work, please contact your supervisor as soon as possible to explore carpooling, alternate start time, and remote work (depending on responsibilities).

To help facilitate ride sharing, TRIUMF has made available two ways to connect displaced transit users connect with commuters who may have extra room in their vehicles:
1) an online spreadsheet (https://triumfoffice365-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/g/personal/crodrigo_triumf_ca/EWrUxNBO9v5Ks8PzgMi46mgBKQswjQNCzjlt01HGICRbgw?e=4%3a2BYPl9&at=9),
and
2) a hardcopy sign-up sheet posted on the HR bulletin board in the Main Office Building.
More information will be shared as the situation develops.
