Hi everyone,

This week we'll be discussing "Evolution of the Reactor Antineutrino Flux
and Spectrum at Daya Bay (
https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.118.251801). Here
are some questions:

1. The lowest energy neutrinos detected were of ~0.7 MeV. Why is this?

2. How does the Daya Bay Collaboration support the claim that 'sterile'
neutrinos probably aren't behind the reactor antineutrino anomaly?

3. How is the ‘conversion method’ for antineutrino spectrum reconstruction
dependent on underlying nuclear physics? What ramifications might this have
for tests of the antineutrino flux anomaly?

4. With the sterile neutrino hypothesis dispelled by this result, what is
the logical next step for probing the anomaly?

5. (Political bonus round) How could a direct prediction of antineutrino
spectrum, instead of one produced from conversion models, aid in detection
of nuclear reactor misuse? Odds that Trump pursues this in a renegotiation
of the Iran deal?

We'll meet on Wednesday at 3:30 pm in the MOB Theory Room and snacks will
be provided.
