Hi everyone,

the ISAC Journal Club is today at 3:30pm in the MOB theory room. Nir
will be presenting the paper "Optical potential from first
principles" (https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevC.95.024315).

Questions:

What does an optical potential have to do with nuclear
physics? (What is it used for and how is it usually obtained?)

What is the novelty in this approach?

What is successfully demonstrated and what isn't so much?

The authors claim that two ingredients are critical for this
to work. What are the two, and are they both really essential?

What are the possible extensions of this work beyond the
specific application given here?

Hope to see you all there!
