Dear TRIUMF Users and Experimenters,

We are accepting proposals for *SR, *-NMR and PIF & NIF experiments.

*SR and *-NMR are powerful tools for characterizing magnetic and superconducting materials, semiconductors and soft matter and for studying the structure and dynamics of free radicals. Information about the *SR and *-NMR facilities at the CMMS can be found at http://musr.ca/. There are currently two surface muon beam lines (M15 and M20) and five *SR spectrometers (Dilution Refrigerator, Helios, LAMPF, NuTime, Omni-Prime) with a range of cryostats and ovens that can cover a wide range of temperatures and magnetic fields. There are also two *-NMR spectrometers for depth-resolved measurements using lithium-8 ions. The CMMS is a user facility with a staff of 7 scientists and 3 technicians who can assist you in all aspects of running *SR and *-NMR experiments including the preparation, execution and analysis. User fees and liquid helium fees have been removed for non-commercial users, so there is no cost (apart from travel and accommodation) for performing *SR and *-NMR experiments at CMMS.

TRIUMF's proton- and neutron irradiation facilities (PIF & NIF) are recognized as a premier test site for space-radiation effects using protons and neutrons, which are created from the proton beams. More information about the PIF & NIF facilities can be found at https://www.triumf.ca/pif-nif.

The Call for Submissions for the next Molecular and Materials Science Experiments Evaluation Committee (MMS-EEC) meeting has been posted and can be found at https://www.triumf.ca/sites/default/files/MMSEEC_CallforSubmissions_June2019.pdf. The deadline for submission of new and continuing proposals is Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 at 23:59:59 (Vancouver time). The next MMS-EEC meeting will take place on Monday and Tuesday, June 17th and 18th, 2019.

Beam time will be available starting in September 3rd, 2019 and will run until December 2019 apart from a short shutdown in October. Awarded beam time can be used up to June 2021.

More information about how to apply for beam time and templates for the application can be found here: https://www.triumf.ca/research-program/planning-experiments/how-submit-proposal/mms-eec-process and in the Call for Submissions.

If you have any questions about performing experiments at TRIUMF or how to apply for beam time, please contact me at iain.mckenzie at triumf.ca<mailto:iain.mckenzie at triumf.ca> and I will be happy to assist you. Please forward this to anyone you may think would be interested in performing *SR, *-NMR or PIF & NIF experiments.

Best regards

Iain McKenzie
