Sent on behalf of Jens Dilling...

Dear CMMS Users,

The TRIUMF PS Division is implementing a new committee, the Facility Advisory Panel (FAP), to advise the Associate Laboratory Director of TRIUMF's Physical Sciences Division (ALD-PSDiv) on the relative importance of proposed developments at the Centre for Molecular and Materials Science (CMMS) at TRIUMF, both internally and externally supported initiatives. In addition, the FAP will make suggestions for further improvements for the user and research operation of the CMMS, for *SR and *NMR.

The FAP is composed of members of the Molecular and Materials Science Experiment Evaluation Committee (MMS-EEC) and two User Representatives. The Chair is nominated by the ALD-PSDiv. Each regular member serves for a period of three years on both the FAP and the MMS-EEC. The User Representatives will serve for 2 years.

FAP meetings will be held twice per year, immediately following the MMS-EEC meeting. The meetings will generally be held in January and June. The first meeting will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 18th, 2019. The TRIUMF CMMS group (department) will give a presentation describing developments (technical and organizational) that have taken place in the last year and list the proposed developments. The FAP will produce a report for the ALD-PSDiv recommending the relative priority of developments and briefly explain the reasoning.

The User Representatives should have an active *SR and/or *NMR program at TRIUMF, have a good understanding of the facilities and the user community and by able and willing to consult with the other stakeholders and users, for example through the TRIUMF user group, but also through dedicated user workshops or meetings).

We are opening the call for nominations for the two User Representatives. Self-nominations are allowed. Ideally, we would like one representative to speak for the *SR users and one representative to speak for the *NMR users. Please contact the PS Division office (sciencediv at triumf.ca<mailto:sciencediv at triumf.ca>) by May 31st, 2019 if you or someone you know would like to serve on the FAP and help improve the *SR and *NMR research program at TRIUMF.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or comments.

Best regards,
Jens Dilling
