Dear grad students and postdocs,

Please be advised that the dates for the *IsoSiM Summer School*
<> have changed; the
lectures and panel have been compressed into three days, *25 & 29-30
June*. The focus remains *effective written and oral communication in
science*. The school will be held in four parts:Â

- The workshop portion will be led by Dr. Jean-luc Doumont
<>, author of the Nature Series "English
Communication for scientists" and a lecturer with Stanford and Harvard.
He will provide a *closed workshop**on writing and oral presentations*
Thursday 25 June and Monday 29 June, 09-17h.

- In preparation, group work will be interleaved with the workshop. As
part of a small group, you will prepare a document to be constructively
critiqued by Dr. Doumont. (Meetings and organization will be decided
between you and your group members.)

- Dr. Doumont will give a *public lecture*, open to all TRIUMF staff, on
*"Structuring your research paper"*, Tuesday 30 June, 10-12h.

- The fourth portion, Tuesday evening (17-19h), will focus on careers in
industry. A representative from each IsoSiM partner will give a brief
overview of the company, participate on a panel on "*Career paths in
industry for young researchers*," and discuss your individual concerns.

Please see the website
<> or the attached
flyer for more details and the complete schedule. To reserve your spot,
please email sgspd at <mailto:sgspd at> indicating if
you'd like to participate in
1. in the workshop portion (25 & 29 June)
2. the group work (22-29 June)
3. "Career paths in industry for young researchers" (30 June)

Participation in the workshop and group work will be confirmed on 1 June
and in the "Career paths in industry for young researchers" on 26 June.
