Dear graduate students and postdocs,

please see below the invitation for the Presentation Skill Workshop on
Thursday, March 3rd.

People who are interested should sign by Monday, February 22nd.

Dear students,

as announced, we are offering a full-day *Presentation Skill Workshop* for
you on *March 3*.
(Participants of the workshop can still attend the LIGO colloquium on the
same day.)

*The seats are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-served
basis, please fill out this form to sign up:http://goo.gl/forms/UvSUj6wbPH

*Program Goals*
The Presentation Skills Training Day is designed to strengthen presenters'
skills through intensive, yet practical exercises in giving presentations.
Workshop activities will engage participants in:
- working closely with peers to improve presentation skills
- practicing presentation strategies and techniques
- recognizing the importance of knowing your audience
- developing presentations around a well-defined purpose
During the workshop, each participant will give a ten-minute presentation
(ideally, taking the opportunity to practice their presentation for the
TRIUMF Student Symposium) and receive facilitated feedback from other
participants on what went well and suggestions for improvement. You will
also participate in sessions on specific topics such as presentation design
and visuals.

Your commitment to the workshop for the entire day should be
complete--attendance during the hours listed above is important for your
success in the program. We have found that it is critical for the success
of the group’s work together that participants do not have any other
appointments during the workshop hours. Participants in previous workshops
have also
highlighted that it is important not to try to conduct regular university
business during the day.

If you need to cancel your participation in this workshop, please advise
the facilitators immediately!
