Please encourage your students to attend the upcoming career-exploration
events described below. Science undergrads will have received information
via the weekly e-newsletter (the Distillation) but hearing from faculty can
be a powerful influence on student behaviour.

*UBC Vancouver will host Career Days
<http://students.ubc.ca/career/events/careerdays> and the Graduate &
Professional Schools Fair
<http://students.ubc.ca/career/events/gradfair> at the AMS Nest
on September 28 and 29 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. *

*(a simple URL to refer students to is “careers.ubc.ca
<http://careers.ubc.ca/>” where they can link to the events with schedules
and register)*



*Career Days* will feature 94 employer organizations from private, public,
and non-profit sectors across a range of industries.  The *Graduate and
Professional Schools Fair* will feature 72 schools from Canada, the U.S.,
Australia, and Europe.  On the website, you’ll find a mobile-friendly,
interactive map that students can use to research the organizations and
navigate the fairs.

Students (undergraduate & graduate) and alumni from all disciplines and
year levels are encouraged to attend and:

   - Practice networking skills and gain confidence in speaking with
   employers,
   - Ask employment and career related questions to experienced and working
   professionals in fields of interest,
   - Discover vital information regarding qualifications, career paths, and
   employment and internship opportunities*, *and
   - Talk with representatives from Graduate and Professional schools about
   admission requirements, research interests, fellowship opportunities and
   more.



Additional opportunities include:

   - Professional LinkedIn photos

·        Information Sessions from various organizations including Capital
One Canada, WorkBC.ca and others.

   - Workshops: *What Does ‘Build My Career’ Really Mean?, Using Your
   Strengths to Steer Your Career,* *Tips from Employers – How to Stand Out
   from the Crowd, Interview Preparation: Build Your Confidence Before the Big
   Day, Tips from American Law Schools About acing the Application Process, Do
