An STFC-funded experimental nuclear physics postdoctoral research position
is available at the University of Surrey. The successful candidate will be
an integral member of the experimental nuclear physics group and will be
involved in the activities aimed to study the structure of heavy
neutron-rich nuclei. These activities include exploring radioactive beam
facilities such as ISOLDE, RIKEN, GSI.

You will join an established group studying isomeric and beta-unstable
nuclei at the limits of experimental accessibility, using gamma-ray,
charged-particle and storage-ring techniques. Candidates should have a
proven track record of research contributions in experimental nuclear
physics. Experience in gamma-ray spectroscopic techniques is essential.

The successful candidate will work within the Centre for Nuclear and
Radiation Physics, where research includes fundamental theoretical and
experimental nuclear physics, radiation physics and applications. For
further information about the Centre please see www.ph.surrey.ac.uk/cnrp.

Informal enquiries about this vacancy can be made to Professor Zsolt
Podolyák (z.podolyak at surrey.ac.uk) or Professor Paddy Regan
(p.regan at surrey.ac.uk)

This position is available for a period of 12 months from September 2017.

Please note, it is University Policy to offer a starting salary equivalent
to Level 3.6 (£30,175) to successful applicants who have been awarded, but
are yet to receive, their PhD certificate. Once the original PhD
certificate has been submitted to the local HR Department, the salary will
be increased to Level 4.1 (£31,076).
