Subject: Professional Development and Learning Opportunities with the McDonald Institute
Dr. Pietro Giampa suggested I be in touch with your group. My name is Dr. Alexandra “Alex” Pedersen, and I am the Business Development Officer for the McDonald Institute (of which TRIUMF is a partnering member). We’ve launched a pilot program during COVID to bring members of the astroparticle physics community together for skills and career based learning.
The Professional Development and Learning (PD&L) Series offers training to undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral researchers primarily, but we also welcome the participation of research scientists and faculty members to join in discussions of topics of interest. You can see past and future offerings on our website: https://mcdonaldinstitute.ca/webinars/professional-development-and-learning-series/<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmcdonaldinstitute.ca%2Fwebinars%2Fprofessional-development-and-learning-series%2F&data=02%7C01%7Cgaps%40triumf.ca%7C2923f722790040f9eaf008d81c517c32%7Cc20535109cb34679a2d38f442e03b587%7C1%7C0%7C637290484009895305&sdata=%2BkGMWuQClookKz6HzEIcALnkKZXXP7mPoZIP5oib%2Fz4%3D&reserved=0> I have not had great success getting the word out to highly qualified personnel who are affiliated with TRIUMF and am hoping this connection will help.
PD&L sessions are hosted on Tuesdays starting at 1:30PM EDT (remembering I am writing you from Ontario Queen’s University), so 10:30am for our BC colleagues. Tomorrow’s session on Navigating Difficult Conversations still has space for registration, so if you have people who would like to attend there is still time to sign up. And if not tomorrow’s session, I invite you to share the website so you can see future offerings.
Thank you for your time. If you or anyone from GAPS at TRIUMF have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I am glad to assist you.
