Because some of us don't get the Director's Office emails. In addition to the advice given, note the very recent travel-related guideline, which is likely to be relevant to many of us.

Update on TRIUMF's response to COVID-19:
Dear Colleagues:

Following up on recent guidance regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), I wanted to update you on efforts to mitigate risks posed to our health. The laboratory is taking several steps to be prepared in the event of an outbreak in our community.

To address this issue head-on, I have convened a lab-wide task force - chaired by Anne Louise Aboud, TRIUMF's COO and Deputy Director, Operations - to facilitate planning related to COVID-19. With the situation rapidly evolving, the task force will meet regularly and continue to develop guidance informed by best practices from federal and provincial authorities - tailored to the specific needs of the TRIUMF community.

Proper hygiene is key to limiting the spread of the virus. Therefore, we are increasing the number of hand sanitizer stations across the laboratory. We will also be hanging posters reminding all staff, students, and visitors to adhere to proper hygiene practices. Please take note of this information and follow the directions provided.

If you have plans to travel, please know that as of this afternoon, the provincial government is directing all returning travellers to self-quarantine for 14 days. We will continue to update our travel policies to ensure they align with provincial health authorities.

In addition, the task force recommended a temporary hold on all public tours. This change will be implemented immediately, with the cancellation of all individual and group public tours that are currently booked.

Should you have any questions about TRIUMF's policies or directives regarding COVID-19, please contact Ian Doyle, Director of Human Resources (idoyle at triumf.ca<mailto:idoyle at triumf.ca>, x7314)

TRIUMF's core values include a strong commitment to safety and accountability, as well as a responsibility to our broader communities. We are committed to being transparent and open about our response to the COVID-19 situation, and I thank everyone for their cooperation in ensuring the community's collective health and wellbeing.

If you experience flu-like symptoms, we ask that you notify your supervisor and do not come into work. Please monitor TRIUMF's COVID-19 resources page (linked below) for further updates and links to official provincial, federal, and WHO resources. I will be back in touch with you soon with additional information.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Bagger
Director
