Dear grad students and postdocs,<br>

Please be advised that the dates for the <a
href="http://isosim.ubc.ca/content/isosim-summer-school-0"><b>IsoSiM
Summer School</b></a> have changed; the lectures and panel have
been compressed into three days, <b>25 & 29-30 June</b>. The
focus remains <b>effective written and oral communication in
science</b>. The school will be held in four parts:Â <br>
<br>
- The workshop portion will be led by <a
href="http://www.principiae.be/" moz-do-not-send="true">Dr.
Jean-luc Doumont</a>, author of the Nature Series "English
Communication for scientists" and a lecturer with Stanford and
Harvard. He will provide a <b>closed workshop</b><b> on writing
and oral presentations</b> Thursday 25 June and Monday 29 June,
09-17h.<br>
<br>
- In preparation, group work will be interleaved with the workshop.
As part of a small group, you will prepare a document to be
constructively critiqued by Dr. Doumont. (Meetings and organization
will be decided between you and your group members.)<br>
<br>
- Dr. Doumont will give a <b>public lecture</b>, open to all TRIUMF
staff, on <b>"Structuring your research paper"</b>, Tuesday 30
June, 10-12h.<br>
<br>
- The fourth portion, Tuesday evening (17-19h), will focus on
careers in industry. A representative from each IsoSiM partner will
give a brief overview of the company, participate on a panel on "<b>Career
paths in industry for young researchers</b>," and discuss your
individual concerns.<br>
