The School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE) at Arizona
State<br>
University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research
Scholar in<br>
Astrophysics.<br>
<br>
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Prof.
Frank<br>
Timmes. The appointee will conduct research in support of the
Arizona<br>
State University node of the NSF Physics Frontier Center
JINA-CEE<br>
(Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics – Center for the
Evolution<br>
of the Elements).<br>

The initial appointment is for two years with a subsequent
renewal for<br>
up to one additional year contingent upon satisfactory
performance,<br>
the needs of the university, and availability of resources. The<br>
earliest start date is September 1, 2018. This position comes
with a<br>
competitive salary and benefits.<br>
<br>
Minimum qualifications include a PhD in Astronomy or
Astrophysics or<br>
related field by the start date, and a research background in
one or<br>
more of the following topics, broadly interpreted: nuclear<br>
astrophysics, stellar evolution, and/or computational fluid
dynamics. <br>
Candidates must be within five years from receipt of their
doctoral<br>
degree.<br>

Desired qualifications include demonstrated experience using the<br>
Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics (MESA) and/or
the<br>
FLASH software instruments.<br>
