Title: Signals of Quark Gluon Plasma - Terrestrial and Cosmological

Abstract: According to conventional wisdom, for large hadronic density and/or high temperature, hadronic matter is expected to go through a phase transition to its fundamental constituents, a quark gluon plasma. The rich experimental results obtained at the SPS, CERN and expected very soon at RHIC, the saga of electromagnetic signals, thermal photons and di-leptons will be covered. Attention will be focused on the advantages of photon interferometry and the mass shift of hadrons at high temperature and density. The considerable experimental involvement from India at CERN and RHIC will be described.

Finally, the footprints in the contemporary universe of the quark hadron phase transition within the first microsecond will be portrayed. The relevance of cold dark matter in this context will be touched upon.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
