Title: In the Zinc Mine, But Looking Up at the Stars: Neutrino Astronomy at Super-Kamiokande

Abstract: Using 1496 days of data from the Super-Kamiokande-I, precise measurements were made of the solar neutrino flux and the recoil electron energy spectrum. Combined with results from the SNO experiment, these measurements provide the first strong evidence for solar neutrino oscillation; taken on their own, the Super-Kamiokande data allow only solutions with large neutrino mixing angle. The Super-Kamiokande data was also searched for relic neutrinos from all past core-collapse supernovae. In the absence of a signal, 90% C.L. upper limits on the total flux were set for several theoretical models; these limits can eliminate or constrain some models. A model-insensitive upper bound of 1.2 nu-e-bar cm^-2 s^-1 was set for the supernova relic neutrino flux in the energy region E_nu > 19.3 MeV. This limit is two orders of magnitude more stringent than the best previously published limits.
