Title: Present status of applications of liquid xenon scintillation detectors
Abstract: Since about twenty years ago, the application of scintillation light from liquid xenon to gamma-ray detectors has being considered, but, until recently, it is not successfully applied as useful detectors. Most recently, new ultra-violet photon sensitive photo-multiplers, which can operate at the liquid xenon temperature, were developed in Hamamatsu Photonics Company. By utilizing an array of such photomultipliers in liquid xenon, we can collect near 100% of the emitted photons from liquid xenon. According to this principle, we can achieve a good energy resolution for high energy gamma-rays. Here, I will talk about the various applications of such liquid xenon scintillation detectors, recently constructed and tested.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
