Title: Adventures of a proton named Bob

Abstract: Nuclear astrophysics has long provided motivation for both nuclear experiment and theory. We will follow Bob the proton, through several sites of nucleosynthesis, from the big bang to stars and cosmic rays. Bob will highlight several of the key processes (e.g. nuclear reactions) that govern astrophysics in these various environments. Several of these processes are common to more than one nucleosynthesis site. Observations of these different systems (1) probe the detailed structure and evolution of the indivdual systems, (2) can be used together to verify the key nuclear inputs and explore other systematics, and (3) can be used to constrain new physics. Thanks to Bob the proton's illuminating efforts, we can link together many areas of nuclear science. The future holds great promise as new nuclear experiments and astronomical observations become available, bringing forth a new age in precision nuclear astrophysics.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
