Title: Electromagnetic Moments with Radioactive Nuclear Beams

Abstract: The measurements of Electromagnetic Moments have traditionally played a crucial role in the critical evaluation of nuclear structure models since they probe directly the single particle (magnetic moments) and collective (quadrupole moments) features of the corresponding wave function. In particular, EM can shed important light on the evolution of nuclear shells at extreme isospin and hence the development of experimental techniques associated with present and future RNB facilities acquires a special significance.

We present results of magnetic moments in two separate regions: 1) ground states of proton-rich nuclei using ISOL beams and the tilted-foil polarization method, and, 2) ground states and isomers in neutron-rich nuclei using polarization and alignment in medium-energy fragmentation reactions. The results are discussed in the context of possible future measurements of EM moments (g and Q) in far-from-stability regions.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
