Title: OpenMP HowTo

Abstract: OpenMP is a parallel programming technique for shared-memory multiprocessor computers. Compared to other parallel programming methods such as MPI and Pthreads, OpenMP is easy to learn. The OpenMP approach involves the use of standard compiler directives for making blocks of code run in parallel. It is particularly well suited to parallelizing existing serial code. The three major computational WestGrid sites all have support for OpenMP. This session will introduce you to the essential concepts and acquaint you with the limitations of OpenMP programming through practical demonstrations.
