Title: Collinear Laser Spectroscopy at ISAC
Abstract: Hyperfine splittings and isotope shifts between isotopes in atomic spectra yield important information on the nuclear structure. Collinear fast beam laser spectroscopy provides the high resolution required for the observation of these effects. Such a facility is being started at TRIUMF with the aim of studying moments and mean squared charge radii over long chains of isotopes available from ISAC. The first experiment proposed for collinear spectroscopy is the chain of neutron deficient La isotopes to further the study started at JAERI, Tokai, Japan.
Basics of collinear laser spectroscopy shall be presented as well as status on research on La isotopes.
