Speaker: Matthew Pearson (TRIUMF)

Title: Nuclear physics from atomic tools

Abstract: The hyperfine interaction is a coupling between atomic electrons and the nucleus. Precision atomic spectroscopy can therefore yield detailed information on the ground state, as well as long lived isomeric, nuclear properties. When carried out at radioactive beam facilities where long chains of isotopes are available systematics such as the changes in the mean squared charge radii as well as the radial distribution of valence neutrons can be determined. Recent results will be presented as well as future ideas utilising facilities already under development at TRIUMF.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.

This is a candidate for a TRIUMF Research Scientist position.
