Title:     An Automated Wire Plane Measurement System

Abstract: During construction of the wire planes for the TWIST detector, measurements were made of the planes to identify irregularities in the wire positions. This was done in a manual form, with an operator sliding a camera on a stage until the wire was centered on a video monitor and then recording the camera position. Recently a fully automated system has been developed, using CCD cameras, image acquisition and analysis. The program is written in Java and C, with a complete user interface and support for multiple cameras. The presentation will cover the software structure, the image acquisition mechanism and the image processing algorithms used to extract wire position data.
