Title: Chiral Nuclear Interactions: a Systematic Approach to Nuclear Structure

Abstract: One main goal of nuclear physics are predictions of nuclear binding energies based on QCD. The probably most promising approach to reach this goal is the application of chiral effective theory to nuclear systems. Thereby, one obtains systematically consistent combinations of two- and three-nucleon interactions.

Chiral three-nucleon interactions are an important test case for the chiral approach to nuclear physics. Since their contribution to
binding energies is quantitatively important, the binding energies are a challenge for chiral interactions and the key for reliable predictions for exotic nuclear systems.

In this talk, I will discuss the current status of bound state calculations based on chiral interactions. Results for s-shell and p-shell nuclei will be shown and their consistency with expectations from the chiral expansion will be analyzed.

The speaker is a candidate for a research scientist position in the theory group. Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
