Title: From Cold Atoms to Light Nuclei; Few-Body Systems with Large Scattering Length

Abstract: Few-body systems with a large two-body scattering length have fascinating universal features. If the scattering length is for example large and positive the two-body system is weakly bound. In the nuclear case this is reflected by the existence of the deuteron. I will discuss an effective field theory approach which allows for a systematic calculation of low-energy observables in atomic and nuclear few-body systems with a large scattering length. I will give an overview over recent results for three-body bound states and scattering observables obtained within this framework and will discuss in particular how this EFT can be used as tool to complete the understanding of the pion mass dependence of three-nucleon observables. Applications of this approach to four-body systems will also be addressed.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk. The speaker is a candidate for a 5 year theory fellow position.
