Title:     New measurement of the Pi->e nu branching ratio; a sensitive probe in the search for new physics

Abstract: The Standard Model value of the helicity suppressed Pi+->e+ nu/ Pi+ -> mu+ nu branching ratio has been calculated with extremely high precision allowing measurements to be unambiguously sensitive to new physics at very high mass scales. The theoretical models motivating the new TRIUMF PIENU experiment and the techniques which will allow an order of magnitude improvement in  precision will be discussed.
