Title: Transport and spectral functions in high-temperature QCD

Abstract: Due to the progress in relativistic heavy ion collisions, transport properties of the quark gluon plasma are currently of great interest. The success of ideal hydrodynamics in heavy ion phenomenology has led to the `perfect fluid' paradigm of the strongly coupled QGP (sQGP). In lattice QCD, transport coefficients and spectral functions can be extracted from euclidean correlators obtained in numerical simulations using the Maximum Entropy Method. I review recent developments and present first results for the electrical conductivity in (quenched) lattice QCD, indicating that the conductivity is small above the deconfinement transition, in line with the notion of the strongly coupled QGP.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
