Title: From super-radiance to continuum shell model
Abstract: Recent progress in physics of nuclei far from stability stresses the necessity for theory that would be able to describe in the same framework bound states, resonances and reaction cross sections. The traditional wall between "structure" and "reactions" has to be removed. Similar problems exist in many areas of mesoscopic physics and quantum information dealing with open and marginally stable systems. In the talk I suggest a possible approach to unified theory in analogy to the phenomenon of super-radiance in quantum optics, show first realistic applications to exotic nuclei and outline future challenges.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
