Title: Design Considerations for High-Power RF Input Coupler Designs

Abstract: RF input couplers are responsible for transferring RF from a source (e.g. klystron, tetrode or IOT) to the interior of the accelerating cavity structure. Couplers for high-power high duty factor applications like SRF cavities must support high voltages, sustain large thermal load, avoid multipactoring or other forms of discharge, and match the source impedance to the cavity impedance. Applications of high-power couplers include MW proton beams for ADSR and MW beams for photo-fission sources of RIB. Coupler types and their existing limitations will be reviewed, and future development options presented.
