Title:     The European XFEL Project

Abstract: The European XFEL Project has been approved and construction is about to start. Based on the TESLA technology chosen for the International Linear Collider, it will represent a challenging step for a new generation of machines for basic research and applications, and will become the next most powerful microscope for a 3D dynamic representation of matter at the atomic scale. In this seminar I will describe various aspects of the project from its international organization to the involved technology and science.
