Title: Proposal for a Room Temperature Accelerating Structure for Heavy Ion Linacs.

Abstract: The present status of the INR H+ and H- linear accelerator will be introduced and main activity directions, such as neutron source, isotope production, medical facility, will be described briefly.

The state of the art in the room temperature accelerating structures development will be presented.
The main topic is the proposal of the room temperature Split Ring - DTL structure for heavy ions acceleration in energy range 150 keV/u – 400 keV/u. The structure design is based on known and proven in TRIUMF solutions. The structure allows flexible segmentation in cavities and transverse focusing elements placing outside cavity. As compared to well known IH DTL, proposed structure has smaller transverse dimensions and is designated for lower operating frequency, providing a higher linac acceptance. The high shunt impedance value at the operating frequency 70 MHz allows CW operation.

In line with 70 MHz Split Ring RFQ, proposed 70 MHz Split Ring DTL looks attractive both in linac total acceptance, and technological unification of the line for ISAC III upgrade stage.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
