Title: Beam line modelization and characterization using ELEGANT

Abstract: ELEGANT is a 6D accelerator tracking program ideally suited for beam line modelization and design as well as data analysis of real machine measurements. Over the past few years Jefferson Lab has migrated towards using this tool for the design and validation of the 12GeV machine and for matching, emittance measurement and other control room activities in the existing CEBAF machine. ELEGANT was also successfully used in the Free Electron Laser facility for applications ranging from non linear octupole correction schemes to electron beam tomography. A framework of ancillary tools has been developed around ELEGANT to facilitate use by both beam line designers and staff in the control room.
