Title:     From high resolution quantitative PET to multi-modality imaging

Abstract: Recent years have witnessed a strong development of in-vivo imaging techniques together with a shift in the philosophy of imaging; complementarity between different imaging techniques is now stressed over competition, leading to efforts toward development and use of hybrid machines, encompassing more than one imaging modality.  This talk will describe recent advances in high resolution quantitative positron emission tomography, that are enabling (i) development of hybrid PET/MR scanners and (ii) more complex imaging protocols.  First applications of such cameras will be described, together with remaining challenges, such as accurate quantification. Finally recent advances in microSPECT will be briefly presented and compared to microPET.
