Title: Towards ab-initio theory of heavy nuclei
Abstract: The progress of rare-ion experimental facilities and the increase of available computational power have, in recent years, combined to emphasize the need for improving the accuracy and predictive power of nuclear structure models. This is especially true for heavy nuclei, where the choice of a microscopic model mostly boils down to different flavors of empirical Energy Density Functionals (EDF). I will describe attempts to include first-principles input in the latter, thereby bridging the gap between the theory of light and heavy nuclei.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
