Title: Hyper-Kamiokande

Abstract: Hyper-Kamiokande is the 3rd generation water Cherenkov detector in Kamioka. It will serve as a far detector in neutrino oscillation experiment with neutrino beam produced by an upgraded J-PARC facility. By precise measurement of 'numu to nue' and 'anti-numu to anti-nue' appearance signals at 295km distance from the neutrino production point, we aim to discover CP violation in leptonic sector, which will provide last missing piece of neutrino oscillation parameters, Dirac CP phase. It will have a good chance to determine mass order of three flavors of neutrinos, often called neutrino mass hierarchy. Moreover high statistic atmospheric neutrino study could provide us supplemental informations on neutrino parameters such as mass hierarchy, octant of theta_23, and Dirac CP phase. Another important role of the detector is to explore a grand unification picture of elementary particles by searching for Baryon number violated nucleon decays. It will extend reach to nucleon decays by one order of magnitude. The scope of studies at Hyper-K also covers high precision measurements of solar neutrinos, observation of both supernova burst neutrinos and supernova relic neutrinos, dark matter searches, and possible detection of solar flare neutrinos.

I will describe the physics goals, reaches, and future prospect of the Hyper-Kamiokande project.
