Title:     Cryogenic Detection of Dark Matter and Status of the CRESST

Abstract: A brief introduction to the problem of direct detection of dark
matter with emphasis on cryogenic detection will be presented, along with 
the status of the CRESST experiment. Some  issues concerning background
and verification of a positive signal in such experiments will be 
indicated.
