Title: Beating (on) the Quantum Many-body Problem with Statistics

Abstract: By discrete Hubbard-Stratonovich transformations, systems of strongly
interacting fermions with a broad range of interactions can be mapped onto
Ising-like models. Focusing on the later as test cases, I will discuss a
surprisingly simple and efficient way to calculate their thermodynamics via
(modified) random sampling. The approach is validated by calculations in
the 2D & 3D Ising models, as well as for resonantly interacting fermions in
3+1 dimensions. Possible applications of this method to finite particle
systems will also be considered.
