Title: Search for dark matter and invisible Higgs decays
Abstract: Two searches for dark matter produced in association with a Z boson decaying leptonically are presented using the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider: invisible Higgs decays from the ZH production mode and dark matter produced from the decay of a heavy mediator modeled with an effective field theory. The common thread for these two analyses is the final state, ll+Missing Transverse Energy. The full sqrt(s)=7 TeV (2011) and sqrt(s)=8 TeV (2012) proton-proton collision datasets comprising 4.5 fb-1 and 20.3 fb-1, respectively, are used for the invisible Higgs search, and the full 2012 proton-proton collision dataset is used for the heavy mediator search. No statistically significant deviation from the Standard Model is observed. Limits are set on the branching ratio of the Higgs to invisible particles, the cross section in the context of a Higgs portal model, and on the mass scale of the effective field theory modeling the interaction between the dark matter and the Z bosons.
