Title: Isospin Symmetry-Breaking in A~70 Isobaric Multiplets

Abstract: The charge-symmetry and charge-independence characteristics of the strong nuclear force are violated by the Coulomb interaction. This removes the degeneracy of excited states in the isobaric partner nuclei leading into small differences in their excitation energies. These energy differences are generically called the Coulomb energy differences (CED), which can be used to investigate both the macroscopic and microscopic aspects of nuclear structure. In this presentation I will review how the experimental CEDs can be interpreted in the shell model framework to yield information about nuclear structure phenomena ranging from shape co-existence via single-particle configurations to angular momentum coupling of valence particles. The focus of the presentation, however, will be on the experimental methods used to probe the neutron deficient N=Z nuclei aroundthe mass A~70 region. These nuclei have been synthesized and studied actively in the recent years at the Department of Physics at the University of Jyvaskyla using fusion evaporation reactions together with recoil-decay tagging techniques.
