Title: Search for T-violation in Neutron-Induced Compound Nuclei

Abstract: Neutron is a massive and neutral hadron with macroscopic lifetime. Slow neutrons show clear quantum-wave behavior and they are widely applied in broad research fields over fundamental physics, material researches, engineering and industry applications. The combination of pulsed source and neutron optics is offering new possibilities in the study of the breaking of discrete symmetries in compound nuclei induced by epithermal neutrons. The sensitivity to the breaking of the spatial inversion symmetry was intensively studied and the enhancement mechanism is expected to be applicable to the breaking of time-reversal-invariance (T-violation). The T-violating effects can be measured in the comparison of analyzer power and polarization and the comparison of polarization transfer coefficients with spin-polarized targets. This type of T-violation experiments is complementary to other types of BSM searches. In this talk, we discuss the experimental sensitivity to T-violation with existing technologies. We also discuss the systematic uncertainty within the framework of neutron optical description.
