Title: The radioactive ion trapping program at ATLAS/CARIBU
Abstract: Ion traps have revolutionized low-energy nuclear physics. The ability to manipulate, purify, capture and accumulate low-energy radioactive ion beams enables study of their properties and decays in ideal conditions, free from outside perturbations. These capabilities have been exploited for studies of interest to the fields of nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental interaction studies and nuclear applications at the ATLAS accelerator facility of Argonne National Laboratory. Technical developments for these studies have also led to the addition of new capabilities, such as the CARIBU facility, that are now providing new low-energy and reaccelerated beams to the ATLAS user community. The talk will present recent results and on-going developments in the radioactive ion trapping program at ATLAS and indicate how they are helping shape the current and future science programs at ATLAS and CARIBU.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
