Title: Who Cares About Space Weather?

Abstract: Various natural phenomena pose a risk to human lives and infrastructure, one of which is Space Weather. At a distance of 90 million miles from Earth, the Sun not only sustains us as an energy source, it also threatens us with its volatility. Space Weather is capable of disrupting the modern technologies we take for granted and damaging the critical infrastructures we rely upon to keep us in our society. From effects on satellites to electric trains, we will explore some well-known and some lesser-known examples of how an extreme space weather event might affect us, and what we can do to mitigate those effects.
