Title: Partial Dynamical Symmetries and Rotation-Vibration Interactions in deformed nuclei and notes on the dangers of statistical tests of nuclear models

Abstract: A) Partial Dynamical Symmetries and Rotation-Vibration Interactions in deformed nuclei
Traditionally, B(E2) transitions in deformed nuclei have been interpreted in terms of the Alaga rules and bandmixing. Recently a new approach, called Partial Dynamical Symmetries, apparently based on entirely different physics ideas, has been shown to work quite well also. These results will be introduced and shown, along with a very simple derivation that relates the two models to each other.

B) Notes on the dangers of statistical tests of nuclear models
While statistical tests of nuclear models are an extremely important tool to evaluate them, blind tests can be extremely misleading and often lead to wrong conclusions. Some examples of these will be given, leading to the introduction of important caveats and guidelines for such tests, along with comments on key observables and on different parametrizations in different models.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
