Date/Time: Tue 2016-10-25 at 14:00

Location: Auditorium

Speaker: Bertrand Kuhnast (CEA)

Title: Research and Innovation at the Service Hospitalier Frédéric Joliot : neuroimaging and innovative labeling strategies

Abstract: After a brief introduction on the activities of the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique et aux energies alternatives (CEA) in defence and security, nuclear energy, technological research for industry, fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences, I will give an overview of the researches that are conducted by the Imagerie Moléculaire In Vivo unit (IMIV) hosted at the Service Hospitalier Frédéric Joliot. My presentation will focus on three main topics of research conducted in collaboration between the four teams of the IMIV unit:
- Translational developments in neuroinflammation imaging : from medicinal chemistry to clinical trials, example of [18F]DPA-714,
- Innovative strategies for the radiolabeling of biologics and multimodal imaging,
- Developments in pharmacological PET/MR imaging.
Beside Research and Innovation, the IMIV unit conducts clinical trials with standard and original radiopharmaceuticals labeled with fluorine-18 ([18F]DPA-714 or [18F]AV-1451) or carbon-11 ([11C]PIB, [11C]flumazenil, [11C]erliotinib, [11C]choline, [11C]methionine) in the field of neurology and oncology.

Biopic:
Bertrand Kuhnast obtained his PhD in Molecular Pharmacochemistry in 2000 from the Université Paris Descartes. After two years post doc at the Technical University of Munich in the Nuclear Medicine department, he was hired at the Service Hospitalier Frédéric Joliot as radiochemist. In 2011, he supervised the setup of the radiochemistry platform at SHFJ and was responsible of the production of radiopharmaceuticals labelled with fluorine-18 and carbon-11 for biomedical applications till 2014. He is today the Molecular Probes team leader within IMIV unit, in which new developments in fluorine-18, carbone-11 and zirconium-89 chemistry and labelled radiotracers are conducted.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
