Title: Nuclear reactions for exotic nuclei and astrophysics built on a microscopic nuclear structure framework

Abstract: With the development of new experimental facilities dedicated to the study of physics near drip lines, a new generation of reaction models utilizing the underlying structure of nuclei is needed. Indeed, calculations of nuclear cross sections remain an excellent constraint on nuclear models due to the sensitivity to details of the wave functions. In addition, cross sections for nuclear reactions for the intermediate- and medium-mass regions are crucial to refine astrophysical models, and so their quality contributes significantly to improve our understanding of the universe and its phenomena. In this context, I will discuss the Resonating Group Method (RGM) and emphasize how this approach turns out to be an efficient reaction frame that can incorporate the structure of the participating clusters. Two nuclear structure approaches, combined with the RGM, will be then discussed: i) one focusing on the physics of weakly bound and unbound systems where the coupling to the continuum is an important feature, ii) the second one is an ab initio approach that takes advantage of a physically relevant symmetry-based basis, allowing to overcome the "factorial wall" and to provide descriptions of nuclei up to the medium-mass region.
