Title: High-precision comparisons of the fundamental properties between the proton and the antiproton

Abstract: The Baryon Antibaryon Symmetry Experiment (BASE) [1] at CERN's antiproton decelerator facility conducts stringent tests of CPT (Charge Parity and Time) symmetry by comparisons of the fundamental properties between the proton and the antiproton, such as their charge-to-mass ratios [2] and the magnetic moments [3,4,5,6]. Single-particle measurements with a multi-Penning trap system have enabled high-precision comparisons of these physical quantities [1].

Recently, BASE performed proton-antiproton comparison of charge-to-mass ratios with a fractional precision of 69 p.p.t. [2]. We also reported measurements of the magnetic moments of the antiproton and the proton with fractional precisions of 1.5 p.p.b [5], and 0.3 p.p.b [6], respectively. All these results were consistent with CPT symmetry. Beside the above measurements, we also provided an improved limit on the directly-measured antiproton lifetime by accumulation of antiprotons in a trap dedicated to antiproton storage [7].

In the seminar, I will explain the principles and methods of the experiments, and give an overview of the achievements, with a focus on the charge-to-mass ratio comparison and developmental works performed thereafter for a further improvement of the measurement precision [8].
