Dear TRIUMF Users, Experimenters, Operators and Staff,
This is to inform you that due to some technical problems with Target
Module 1 (TM1) and the target (LpTa target) in particular with high
voltage operation, changes to the ISAC Schedule have been made. Due to
the new off-line testing capabilities these issues could be identified
before the target went on-line, preventing potential longer downtime.
The accelerator group is working very hard and will be able to fix these
issues off-line, which should cause only minimal delay. Overall, from
the current situation, these issues will lead to a one week delay in
start up of the new target operation, which was in the current Schedule
119b planned to be June 20, 2011. In order to minimize delivery down
time, we will continue to run with the presently installed TM4 (for at
least an extra week).
The technical issues in TM1 are investigated and we should have a better
understanding later this week. However, for now there are direct
consequences. We continue with TM4 and the HPTa target through
Wednesday, July 6. From Thursday, June 30 we will run S1292/S1295 with
8pi for Cs and In beams (which should be produced in sufficient
quantities for the experiments from the current target).
We plan to switch to TM1 on Wednesday, July 6 and will have start-up
time and yield measurements, and then start with S1067 HERACLES. We then
go to S1247 TIGRESS on Wednesday, July 13.
The OLIS schedule is also effected and has been adjusted according to
the on-line schedule, with DRAGON tests experiments starting set-up
Wednesday, June 29.
Thank you very much for your understanding, and apologies for the
short-notice changes. We are doing our very best to minimize the impact
of the technical difficulties on your experiments.
With best regards,
Jens Dilling
